Bert

Meet Bert! Bert is a beautiful gray and white tuxedo estimated to be about 3 years old. He was found behind a Robert grocery store in New Orleans, LA where he was scrounging for food in the dumpster. He was shy, but friendly, and when he approached us we noticed he had a pretty bad eye injury. So we scooped him up and took him in to the vet to see if we could save his eye. After 2 months of antibiotics and eye drops, we actually saved his eye! He has a small cloudy scar in that eye now, but it does not affect his vision. Of course, once we realized what a sweet boy he was, we simply could not put him back on the streets. Initially, Bert is still timid and shy and likes to hide to feel safe. But if you go to him and pet him, and talk to him softly he responds with purrs. Once he trusts you, he loves being picked up and held, and loves snuggling up close with you in the bed. He will also roll over and ask for belly rubs! This big guy just needs someone to give him a chance! Bert is currently the only cat at his foster home. He does well by himself, and doesn't cause any mischief. He is very low maintenance and wouldn't be mad if you had to work long hours. We are unsure if he has been around other cats, but if you have another friendly cat that needs a buddy we could try slow introductions. And maybe another friendly feline would help him come out of his shell more! He probably would not do well with young children or dogs. Bert is neutered, combo tested negative, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas.
