Bijou

Fancy a cocktail? Meet Bijou! Bijou came to us as part of a litter of 5 kittens we named for different drinks. He is the last one left searching for a home. Bijou is energetic, friendly, and sweet. He is very playful and rambunctious. When he's out, he prefers to run around and do his own thing. He loves chasing after toys. He also likes to hang out on our cat trees near the window to keep a sharp eye on whatever is going on outside. However, he has a sweet side, too. He loves cuddles and kisses, and especially enjoys head scratches - he will just close his eyes, let his mouth hang open, and purr. He'll also wiggle and worm around in his bed for pets. Bijou is a goofy boy who is known to blep at us and just space out. Bijou gets along well with other cats. He was very attached to his brother, Cosmo, before Cosmo passed. They would always cuddle and groom each other. We think he would make a great companion for another kitty he can love on and play with. We think he would do well with children. He has not been tested with dogs. Unfortunately, Bijou has a heart condition that has caused one of his valves to thicken and placed him on heart medication. He eats it very well in a dab of wet food, no pill-popper needed. Unfortunately, this does mean his life expectancy is shorter than other cats, but we believe he is just as deserving of a loving home he can call his own. Sadly, his beloved brother, Cosmo, passed from the same condition before he found his forever home - we really want a better outcome for Bijou. Bijou also has food allergies that cause him to have scabs and loose stools, but we have found several foods that totally eliminate these symptoms. If he goes to a home with multiple cats, he will need to either be fed separately or all the cats in the home will need to eat the allergen-friendly food. His allergies have also caused him to have asthma, which we think would be much better in a home. Bijou is three years old as of March 2024. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
