Bonnet is a super sweet, mellow young cat who was surrendered by her owner, who had too many cats to manage. Bonnet is about 4 years old and an absolute cuddle bug. She LOVES to snuggle up on the couch with you, has a very calm demeanour, and wants to be part of the group. She purrs a ton and loves chin scratches. She doesn’t have kitten energy or a very playful demeanor, but is very calm and gentle and seems to be happy to have a lap/couch to be cozy on. She doesn’t seem to understand the concept of toys but has shown interest in batting at wands with ribbons on the end. We are going to try introducing different types of toys to her as we continue to care for her.
Although Bonnet is comfortable around low-energy dogs and other cats, she would do best in a quieter home with no young kids and ideally no other pets. This isn't a requirement, but she has some food requirements that are easier to manage if she's the only pet.
Medical Requirements:
Bonnet needed emergency surgery to remove an obstruction in her stomach, which required 10-inches of her colon to be removed. As a result, she has difficulty absorbing nutrients and requires a special diet. She needs B12 injections of 0.2 ml monthly, which are easy to administer and cost only $6 per bottle, lasting about a year. She also needs to eat a prescription diet that consists of Hills Science Diet GI wet food and Hills Science Diet ID dry food, which are formulated for easy digestion. Because of Bonnet's emergency surgery and difficulty absorbing nutrients, she is a bit food-obsessed (since she always feels hungry) and needs and adopter that's committed to working with her on it to ensure that she has enough food, and is remaining at a healthy weight. An automatic feeder would likely help with this, and Moby Kit is happy to send Bonnet home with one to support her adoptive family. Moby Kit will also send Bonnet home with all the B12 and prescription food we have on hand to help get Bonnet started in her new home.
