ADOPTED (finally!) 10-30-09, thank you Dixie of Troy, ID! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE 1-3-08, Bridgette is now spayed, and has finished with the last of the orphan kittens! **********************************************************************************************************************In 10-08, this absolutely stunning, litte, tiny purebred cat was found, abandoned S. of town, outside a senior lady's home. Said senior could tell kitty was pregnant, but couldn't really have another cat in the house, so just kept putting out food everyday. Bridgette (so named because she was living under a bridge) proceeded to give birth to 7! kittens under a bush. When they were about 6 weeks old, she carried them, one by one, up and over a stone wall, onto the lady's porch, where she'd set up a box with a blanket in it for her. 7 kittens, to this tiny little malnourished, abandoned kitty. What dedication and determination this cat had to raise these 7 babies. Now, the story gets really good. She got here, 7 babies in tow, and we fed the heck out of her and the babies thrived. 3 are still here with us, the 3 solid black ones, of course! BUT, when they were about 9 weeks old a man came to us with a box of newborn's, 4, kittens who's mother was a stray that he'd been allowing to stay in his rental garage (he had no landlord permission to have a cat and couldn't afford the pet deposit) ANYWAY, the stray mother he'd been feeding was discovered, smashed in the street, hit by some person who never even stopped. Leaving these 4 babies orphaned at 5 days of age in his garage, WAY too young to have any sort of success at bottle raising. Well, mamma Bridgette to the Rescue! We pulled her big, fat 9 week old kittens off her, they were plenty ready, and asked her to take this new litter, meaning at least 7 weeks more nursing! Not only did she accept them readily, she has cared for them as if they were the soul reason she was put on this earth! If any cat deserves the ultimate, perfect, spoil her rotten home for the rest of her life, it's this one!!!!! She will be available anytime after Christmas, she'll need to stay here to feed the "Christmas litter" until then, and then be spayed.
