My Story

This is a courtesy posting and is not affiliated with FRA:

"Lacey" aka "pooh bear" is an orange tabby cat. Those are the names she came with. She is slightly overweight but otherwise healthy. We have a vet appt at Angie's vet (Dr. Rabbinowitz) so will have updated shots and health info to provide then, but I do not anticipate any changes in that.  If needed, I will try to get all her past records from her prior vet in Kansas City.

In 2001 I agreed to cat sit and then they never picked her up, so have had her since.  Since that time she has been in good health.  She has gotten her regular shots.  She is an indoor only cat so she has only needed her rabies shots.  However, prior to 2001 I am not sure about her history.  Except that she came to me completely declawed front and back and fixed.  I believe she was about 2 when she came to me in 2001 but I am unable to verify that, so I guess she is around 10 or 11 years old.

As far as personality, once she is comfortable she enjoys cuddling and playing with string.  However, she prefers to have things done on her terms.  For example, when we moved recently to Maryland, it took several days before she was totally social.  She did roam around however, she found a corner under a chair that she deemed to be her safe place and spent most of her time there.  If there is a stranger or someone new, she may revert to her safe place until she gets to know that person.

She prefers not to be picked up as that is not on her terms, and she also is rather sensitive about having her belly rubbed.  She does allow it at times, but again on her terms and not very often.  She does love her back and head being rubbed pretty much all the time.

She has lived with other cats before, and does try to be the "queen bee" Several years ago my roommate at the time had a kitten and another younger cat and Lacey hid a lot at first and hissed at them but after a while did warm up to them and was more like a mother to them. So I think she would get along with other cats as long as they wouldn't claw her, since she is declawed.

We have also lived with a large dog (husky mix), for a couple of months, who was very hyper.  When he was calm, she was fine.  If he was hyper, she would usually stay away from his area as the sudden movements startled her.

She has been around kids before and has done ok.  My niece and nephew are 2 and 3 and have done well with her.  They were able to respect her boundaries, so that helped.

Unfortuantely, due to allergies and regulations of my current residence, I am unable to conitnue to care for her.  So hopefully you can help me find a good home for her!  I have attached a couple pics we were able to get of her.  She is very sweet and loving once she gets to know you... whenever I am sick she will curl up with me, she loves to cuddle as long as she is the one coming to you, she loves to play with string and chase it.. she is a great cat!

People can either email me at [email protected], or call Mike or I at 410-336-5333.  Thanks for any help you can provide!
