My Story

** $200 in pledges to the rescue that pulls ** Jazz ACCT-A-162639 is a 10-year-old spayed female who came to the shelter on 4/23 as an owner surrender due to the owner passing away. Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 7/1: Jazz is a gentle giant and an old soul. Jazz likes treats and likes eating them. She is very smart- I hid some treats under her blanket, and she figured out that they were there and then pulled back the blanket to eat them. On 5/13 staff noted: Really opened up when I pulled out a toy to play with her. Has been soliciting attention more often and doesn't hiss, but still gets overstimulated sometimes. Would recommend a household that has a good amount of experience playing with and tiring out cats to prevent the temperamental personality noted in previous household. On 5/2 staff noted: Even more improvement! Staff was able to give him a lot of loving, although it took her about five minutes to get him to allow it. But she was loving the chin and cheek scratches. Just go so, so slow and make sure you're loving her on her terms. Starts with a pen so Jazz can see what's going to happen and then slowly rubs into staff's hand. Can still get overstimulated and swat. On 4/26 staff noted: Has actually made some improvement since coming into Cat 1 yesterday. Jazz used to hiss at everyone walking by, but now seems more likely to limit it to taller people that are more in her space. She came to the front of the kennel when I threw in hard treats, but she never softened. When I was getting a cat on the bottom row below her into a kennel, I heard her growling and looked up to see her pressed against the bars and giving me a hard stare. When I tried to play with her, she tracked the toy but did not engage. May do well to have someone who can drain her energy through play or exercise.
