My Story

If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out our cat adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to [email protected] .

Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact Tina to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this cat! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific cat you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.

You can save animals like Joanie by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering animals.

What a catch this girl is! Joanie is a darling 10 week old (as of 5/22) calico kitten. She is white with just the basic orange and black calico markings and lovely green eyes. She is a very calm kitten. Both her brothers were crazy little maniacs and she was very content to watch them and to join in occasionally. She is a snuggle little purrer who loves sleeping under blankets. Joanie and her brothers were born to a feral mother but luckily she and the kittens were trapped and brought inside to safety within days of their birth. The kittens don't know how lucky they are to have been loved and socialized so they didn't have to live a life like Mom. Joanie grew up in a home where she has been handled daily and loves hugs and kisses. Joanie must go to a home with another Homeward Trails kitten or to a home that already has a young cat.

Joanie is currently fostered with Spanx/ Spanks and Joanie have adjusted quite well to their new foster home! At first, they were a little shy and hesitant even with each other, but now they have become two peas in a pod! They are a bundle of joy to watch play together! Toy mice, dangly strings, shiny little pom-poms...there isnt anything they wont bat around. Spanks is the more adventurous of the two, and those eyes get huge when she hears a new noise. She isnt afraid of other animals, though she will be tentative around them until she builds up her courage. Joanie is more calm, and wants to be around you all the time. If she cant see you, she will meow to make sure you are still there, and usually comes running when you answer her. She loves to snuggle and be petted. She likes to play in her tunnel and surprise Spanks on the other end. If you are sitting, she is right there next to you, or in your lap trying to get your attention to pet her, while Spanks is on the other side, trying to catch Joanie's tail or play with a toy she brought with her. At night, they will be in bed with you, trying to get the most comfortable spot, which is usually under your chin for Joanie, and on top of your head for Spanks. They will purr almost all night long, or any time that you talk to and love on them.
