*** John Wayne is at our Cat & Craft adoption center *** Solid black, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 1/1/23, #19077 Cats: mellow felines or good solo Dogs: unknown Children: calm kiddos We met John Wayne while rescuing over 20 abandoned cats in Pauma Valley. Like the classic western movies, this small, dark and handsome figure sauntered over. As the fluffy marshal of the RV park, John Wayne was known for making his daily rounds and befriending everyone along the way. Assumed to be one of the outdoor felines, our initial plan was to neuter him and return him to his beloved community. During the neuter operation, he was diagnosed with stomatitis, a very painful mouth condition. He needed a lifesaving dental procedure that would require him to live indoors. With that, John Wayne said goodbye to the great outdoors and joined The Rescue House clowder! With his dental procedure a huge success, he's feeling fantastic and ready to fall in love with his forever family! John Wayne is the happiest gummy bear in town! (We call our toothless cats "gummy bears.") To treat the stomatitis, all his teeth were removed. But don't feel sorry for him- he's quite thrilled to be rid of the mouth pain and doesn't miss his teeth at all! In fact, he's no picky eater and loves chowing down his wet food. Fully grown, he's small in stature but big in affection! His size is perfect for his favorite activity: lap cuddles! Shower him with pets and he'll serenade you with purrs of appreciation. After a good body rub and basking in your full attention, he's in a heavenly bliss. Don't be surprised if he drools in delight; drooling is one of his love languages. A brave boy, he doesn't mind being picked up as long as he feels properly supported and you place him down gently. For fun, this playful lad enjoys chasing after the feather wands. Even though he's officially retired as the RV park's marshal, he still gets to make his rounds in your abode. As your loyal companion, he desires to be in whichever room you're in and will follow you around as if to ask, "What shall we do now?" An independent and confident fellow, he understands that you might be busy and has no problem playing or relaxing on his own. You'll probably notice him gazing in your direction in hopes you'll be enticed to join him in a snuggle or game. How can you deny those sweet eyes and that adorable face? Every day is brighter with John Wayne by your side! He will likely tolerate, or possibly befriend another mellow playful welcoming cat. He'd also be content as the solo feline in the household. His opinions about dogs are unknown. A family with calm kids would be delightful, especially if they cuddle and play with him.
