Name: Katniss Age: About 1 year Breed: Tabby Reason for being at the shelter: Owner surrender - can't afford Description: Katniss is a very, very shy kitty and won’t come out of hut to meet people. She won’t even meet you half way. You have to go all the way to meet her but only slowly and gently. She gets scared easily and may smack at you out of fear. But if you move your hand toward her slowly to eventually touch her, she relaxes enough to let you continue petting her. She will eventually soften the look in her eyes and relax her body to soak in rubs around her neck. Katniss’ coat is so soft it’s like touching bunny fur. We can’t tell you a whole lot more about Katniss yet because she is so timid and fearful. But as we spend more time with her, she will get to know us and trust us and will eventually open up and show more of her personality. In the meantime, she would benefit from more socialization and sweet lovin’ from people. Potential adopters can either fill out an online adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to meet the animal or visit with the cat in person during public visiting hours.
