My Story

Maggie (Mags) Female Approximately 2 Years Old Good with other sweet cats/likes their company Local Louisville Adoptions Would be good with older children Thrive with someone who is home more and gentle Adoption Fee: $100.00 plus 6% Sales Tax Includes: Combo Test; FVRCP/rabies/Fecal/Worming/Microchip Several months ago little Maggie lay lifeless on the ground. Flies and maggots became opportunists and her wounds became infested. Dehydrated; and Anemic Maggie was quickly becoming septic. Her body was shutting down. When a Good Samaritan took Maggie into the vet the first thought was humane euthanasia. But the Veterinarians and Staff saw a spark and they were determined to do everything possible to save Maggie along with her severely injured back legs. Maggie would be hospitalized for several weeks. Every day special care and specialized treatment became a team effort. And Maggie? Well, she became a beautiful statistic and testament that every living creature deserves a chance! When Maggie left the vet she was was in need of continued medical care and fostering. That's when Milissa stepped in. She and her son and the other kitties in the house have been so patient and kind and loving. The little girl who once lay lifeless on a hot concrete patio on a stifling summer day, went from dragging her feet to walking and playing. Maggie won't ever be 100% but she is doing fabulous. Here's what Mom Milissa says about her very special rescue: "Mags has a very sweet soul. She’s very sweet. She only meows when she needs something. She likes to make friends with other cats once she feels comfortable and safe in your home. She will need a safe place (i.e under your bed, in your closet, etc). to go when she gets scared or wants to be alone. Loud noises scare her (i.e garbage disposal, vacuum, yelling at the TV during a football game.) She can walk and if she gets scared she will wobble very fast to her safe place. She takes 3 cans of wet food a day-one when I wake up, one at mid-day and one before bed. She will eat dry food between cans if she gets hungry. She’s kinda picky about her wet food but still likes a variety. She likes fancy feast wet food with gravy and fancy feast dry food filet mignon. When I’m working from home, she will do her thing but usually spend most of the day by me in my office. At night she likes to lay by me on my bed and make biscuits and snuggle until it’s time to put her in her bed on the floor by my bed. Then she will stay there for a few minutes than it’s off to play. This is our nightly routine and she looks forward to it everyday. She can use the Cat Box -the only issue is when she gets in the Cat Box (it is a special needs Cat Box and has a lower entrance than normal Cat Boxes) she will usually fall as her balance isn’t good, so she will use the restroom laying down. I’m working with her on her balance so hopefully it gets better. I just always make sure to clean her box after she uses it so she doesn’t get dirty."
