Maris

Maris is a playful young adult. She enjoys climbing on cat trees and playing Queen of the Mountain on the top shelf. She enjoys head scratches when it is time for her breakfast or dinner she's quite food motivated. She will need an experienced adopter as she is extremely cautious around people. She can startle easily, so she will do best with an understanding family who will work with her while she acclimates to her forever home. She is a beautiful girl who loves to be petted once she is settled. She loves to play with other cats and will do well in a home with other pets. Maris is up-to-date on all vaccines, she is spayed and microchipped, litter box trained and eats both wet and dry food. If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. Please read the Adoption Process steps below. Our Adoption Process: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
