Paprika

Meet Paprika! She is a rambunctious, playful( and sometimes spicy) kitten. When Poppy came to our home to be fostered, we couldn't pick her up, or touch her without her hissing and backing away. She was terrified, to put it lightly. I knew we had work to do and I had faith we could help her. Her siblings had passed away and she may have been missing the company of other cats. So, we started there. I took a chance and let our therapy cat, Boe, into her condo. Instantly she perked up and purred while she rubbed up against boe, who started to lovingly groom her. She then allowed me to touch her while Boe was with her. I found a way in. Over the next week, she bonded with all the cats In our home. She was ecstatic to be near them. We then moved on to humans, a trickier project. It started with holding her wrapped in a blanket every few hours, telling her gently how much I loved her and how proud I was that she was making progress. She started to accept the cuddles, purr and stretch her little legs out in relaxation. It was hard to contain my joy. By the end of our two months foster journey, she even began to approach me for treats. I knew it was time for her to start her next adventure. She came to the haven, where she continues to meet other feline pals and other humans. It has been an honor to help break down her walls and have a peek at the warm, gentle kitten on the other side. She is going to make a wonderful companion after all her hard work and trust building.
