Cinder and Paws both came to us as older kittens (~3mos old) and stayed with us for quite a long time. Cinder was adopted first, followed by Paws just a month later where there have been enjoying their new family and each other. Unfortunately, allergies have forced their new family to make the tough decision to place them. Here is a letter their "Dad" asked us to post:
Cinder was the first to come to us in February 2005 with Paws joining him about a month later. Both have been welcome additions to the house.
During their time here they have eaten mostly Special Kitty super supper dinner canned food available at Wal-Mart. The treat they have chosen is Pounce tender chicken. The cats have been using two enclosed litter boxes with flap doors and Fresh Step litter and haven’t had any problems.
Both cats enjoy the corrugated cardboard type scratching pad. Paws can spend hours with the round one that has a ball running in a circular track around it called Turbo Scratcher. Cinder also spends time on a post I made by wrapping the bottom upright of the railing on our stairs with carpet and spraying the carpet with liquid catnip. Both play with bell balls and small 2-3” long plush mice or will chase feather etc. on a string until you get tired.
Both cats have their own beds but will nest anywhere they can find a coat or blanket to call their own. Cinder and Paws are both very happy to let you share the bed with them at night if you don’t take up too much room.
Cinder was rather scared when we got him and continues to demand less personal attention than Paws though he does get very vocal at times when he wants some of your time. He also will follow you around the house until you stop and he flops on his side rolling onto his back so you can scratch his belly for him. Paws, on the other hand, is happy laying in your lap for long periods of time. While neither cat is aggressive in any way they do rough-house with each other and at times it’s hard to tell if they’re playing but there’s never been bloodshed. When they came to our house we also had a 14 year old female Lab-Newf cross and they not only got along well, Cinder and Chance the dog seemed to adopt each other.
Giving the boys up because of my allergies has not been an easy decision and they will be missed by all of us. My wife says that Cinder and Paws are each half of the perfect cat.
Cinder and Paws have been together here since last spring, and before that in a foster home for most of their life. We would like to see them stay together and I believe they would be happier that way. Cinder tends to be a real “mans” cat, while Paws prefers the ladies :) For more information, please email
