My Story

Is there anyone out there who can find it in their heart to give this special kitty a loving home? PeeWee is a very special boy who is looking for a forever home with someone who wont judge him for his differences. Some days PeeWee is a cuddly, out-going cat, who will sleep on your bed and purr up a storm, and some days he becomes reclusive and introverted, avoiding attention whenever he can. This type of behaviour is often associated with pets that have received head trauma from an accident or from abuse. We don't know if either of these things are a part of PeeWee's past but the veterinarians caring for PeeWee strongly suspect it. PeeWee takes a small pill once a day to help with his mood swings and to help make him more comfortable in new environments. In addition to PeeWee's behavioural enigma, he battles some physical challenges too. PeeWee has renal insufficiency (which means that his kidneys don't work so hot.) It appears that he was born this way. This condition is not painful or even uncomfortable for PeeWee. Although PeeWee tries his best to avoid accidents (how embarrassing) he sometimes has difficulty holding his urine (he knows how to use a litterbox, but he doesn't always make it to the box in time.) PeeWee needs to go to a home where he can be an indoor only cat (or maybe have access to a run or deck outside) and where there are no other pets. This is important because PeeWee is extremely allergic to vaccinations and cannot be properly vaccinated. Therefore he is not protected against diseases like feline leukemia, distemper, or rabies that could be passed to him from other cats that he might come across. Despite all of the challenges that PeeWee has faced thus far in life he is remarkably resilient. Although PeeWee is different from other cats in several ways, he is actually a fairly low maintenance guy. His daily pills are very easy to give (we hide them inside a specially designed pill pocket and PeeWee gobbles them up like candy.) Because the urination habits of cats with renal insufficiency are different than those of cats without the condition it would be best for PeeWee to go to a home with someone who has dealt with an incontinent pet before, or someone who understands the challenges that PeeWee faces with his condition.
