Smokey is a very loving, special 11 year old who suddenly found herself dumped at a local shelter by her owner. Smokey was so grateful to be rescued from the shelter after languishing there for days. You see, many rescue groups won’t take in older cats for fear they won’t be adopted. Kool Kats looks beyond that and realizes that older cats can offer just as much as younger cats or kittens, sometimes more! Smokey is over the curtain climbing, attacking everything that moves (including you) stage.
Smokey is going to need a family as special as she is. You see Smokey has CRF (Chronic Renal Failure). Wait! Don’t say “Oh, no!” and move onto the next cat for adoption. You might think that’s an automatic death sentence for an animal, but nothing could be further from the truth. If you read up on CRF, you’ll find life expectancy is years. In fact, if you weren’t told Smokey has CRF, you would never know there’s anything wrong with her. She eats prescription food and takes supplements that keep her CRF in check. There are even a couple of Yahoo Groups specifically dedicated to CRF cats. The members are very caring people who are more than willing to help out the owners of CRF cats and share their vast knowledge of the disease and how they deal with it.
I hope you’ll read up on CRF and see how normal a life cats can have with it. Perhaps drop me an email if you’re interested in giving Smokey a chance at a real home.
Smokey is spayed, front declawed, litter box trained, feline leukemia and AIDs negative and up to date on vaccinations. Smokey gets along with other laid back cats and cat-friendly dogs.
