My Story

Name: Ted Age: About 5 years Breed: Tabby Reason for being at shelter: Owner passed away Description: More Updates: Ted is becoming less and less shy as time goes on, especially during quiet times. He’s now fairly content to hang out on top of the cat tree instead of inside of it. He still loves his treats and he loves his gentle love from people. Update: Ted must have been practicing for years because his treat catching antics are now on display. His foster mom learned that he can catch treats in mid air with his paws, then shove them into his mouth without the treat touching the ground. How smart is he? Ted has also recently shown the playful side of his personality. What a cat. Ted is a male orange tabby of deeper orange color and is about 5 years old. He has a strong dislike of the camera and having his picture taken so it’s been a little tricky for his foster parent and volunteers to get good pictures of him. Ted can be shy and reclusive at first but does eventually warm up to people. Then he becomes loving and cuddly. It just takes a little while. Note: Jasper has been adopted already so Ted can be adopted as a solo pet, with another from his household group, or into an existing cat household. Ted is one of a household of cats that were taken into a foster home after the owner passed away. The owner loved them a lot but as his health faded, he was no longer able to properly care for the cats anymore. They were in rough shape, severely underweight, and flea infested. Since being placed into a foster home, they have done really well and have mostly recovered from their poor health plight and are now ready for adoption. These cats have lived together since they were kittens. Although only two of the group, Jasper and Ted, are actual littermates, they all get along well and are sociable with each other. They are all very sweet and easily make friends despite some initial shyness. They would benefit most from being adopted as pairs or by joining other cat(s) in a home. This group lived in an adult household. Their exposure to dogs and/or kids is unknown but is probably unlikely so they would do best in an adult home. Potential adopters can either fill out an online adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to meet the animal or visit with the cat in person during public visiting hours. An application can be found on our website using this link https://www.ophumanesociety.org/cat-adoption-application. Please allow a few business days for us to process your application. We screen applicants for the first BEST fit for each animal. If you are approved, you will be contacted by us via phone or email to schedule an appointment.
