*Rex-Extremely Urg

Rex is now our most urgent dog in need! This week his owners took him to the vet to be euthanized to get rid of him because they believed it would be more humane than bringing him to a county shelter to suffer and be euthanized eventually anyway, but the vet refused because there was no medical reason. They reluctantly brought him back to live out in the backyard. We have absolutely no available foster homes for him and we need help to save him ASAP. Rex is a sweet 10 year old lab that has lived a very difficult life. He has been living as an outside dog since he was adopted from a shelter when he was a pup.Now the family is moving and Rex is no longer needed by them. Despite his harsh existence, Rex has a sweet, gentle temperament, and a loving disposition. He is still playful and responsive and loves to get pet by the neighborhood children that pat him on the head over the fence as he watches them on their way to and from school. The neighbors all think he is such a sweet boy that they have tried to give him as much attention as they could to boost is spirits while he lived outside. Rex also is very appreciative of the dogs that live next door that he gets to play with when they come outside and he is very gentle and well mannered with them as well. His eye needs medical attention which we will provide before he goes home. This sweet dog is on the Urgent List and desperately needs to find a family with room in their hearts to give him the loving home that he deserves in his senior years.
