Allie-adopted

April 4 - UPDATE: New from Allie's foster parents. Allie is such a sweet girl. Its like getting a ready made dog. She is house trained, has manners, gets along well with other dogs and cats and kids, and she loves to play with toys. Allie came to us from the city pound. She was pregnant at the time and was going to be 'put down' because of it. A few days after arriving at our house she gave birth to a nice litter of puppies. She is so happy and such a good mother. She is very gentle and protective. Miss Allie would be the perfect addition to any family looking for an all around good natured dog. She likes to ride in the car and does well on a leash. She would enjoy trips with the family to the park or to the store. Its hard to find such a perfect dog. She is available June 1st after weening her pups.

Allie is approx. 1 year old in these pictures taken March 17, 2007. No this isn't a new breed of dog called whale, but Allie is as big as one because she is due to give birth any day now. This very sweet, loving, and bubbly girl was saved from a kill shelter who was going to put her to sleep because her "time was up." City and County shelters rarely keep pregnant animals past their hold periods because of the extra care mom and pups need and the space they require. Besides being very sweet, Allie rides well in a car; walks great on a leash; and gets along with other dogs.

Allie will not be ready to go to a new home for at least 10 weeks from now (About June 1st) Although considering what could have been, she is OK.

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $250.00 for altered dogs. $350. for unaltered puppies, with $100 refundable after spay/neuter. All Senior dogs 6 years or older have a reduced adoption fee of $200. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and transport from Arkansas to Maine

FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.

CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.

SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.

SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.

HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.

PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
