Alvin & Gilbert

Alvin and Gilbert are a bonded duo looking for their perfect home. They are estimated to be about 5 years old. They were surrendered with two other siblings to a local shelter after their owner passed away. Both Alvin and Gilbert came into our care with severe skin infections, which has responded beautifully to treatment. We learned after one of their siblings had a DNA test done, that the boys are also largely Chinese Crested. In order to best care for their skin, they will will require regular moisturizer, weekly baths, as well as protection from the elements with t-shirts, coats, and/or doggie friendly sunscreen. Alvin, after having a routine urinalysis done, was found to have elevated protein levels in the urine. He was placed on a relatively inexpensive medication called Benazepril, and rechecks at the vet soon to see if his levels remain evelated and will need to continue on this medication long-term. They are slow to warm up. However, once they've gotten to know you, they are the biggest cuddle bugs ever. They would love nothing more than to sit on the couch with you under a warm blanket. Alvin and Gilbert are mostly housebroken. Although they have some occasional accidents, they have made great strides with potty training and are fully crate trained. When given time to warm up and a gradual introduction, they have been able to get along well with other dogs, large and small, as well as cats. Their adoption fee is $200 each. They are both neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, have had negative fecal and heartworm tests, are microchipped, current on their monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention. .
