Puppies are truly a special gift and Sadie has blessed us with six precious little girls -- Violet, Lizzy, Twiggy, Jamie, Bailey, and Daphne -- and one very dear little boy, Theo! Their mom, Sadie, is a gorgeous purebred Chocolate Lab with a marvelous easy-going temperament who is a joy to be around. Dad is a mystery.
Barely a year old year old and very pregnant, Sadie was abandoned in a cold garage. A Good Samaritan kept an eye on her and got her to us just in the nick of time – Sadie gave birth to her babies the day after she arrived at Safe Harbor.
Sadie and her adorable little family have been lovingly cared for from birth by an outstanding, experienced foster family. Each puppy has been well socialized and is a bundle of unique personality, growing quickly, getting cuter by the day. They’ll soon be ready to go home and would love a visit!
Puppies, while adorable, are not for everyone. Think carefully if your lifestyle has room for the extraordinary responsibility of raising a puppy. Do you truly have time for the daily nurturing and constant supervision required? Do you mind piddles on your floor, chewing on your things and, before you know it, a “teenage puppy” with ideas of his or her own? The proper handling and socialization of a puppy are critical to their development into a well adjusted adult. As they grow they will require your steady, kind leadership, commitment to their training and rely on you for their extensive daily exercise needs.
If you would like one of these little “dogs to be” to consider your application, please tell us why your home would be suitable for a puppy in the comments section of your application.
Sadie’s puppies will only be placed in homes with: (1) adults or older children who can treat a dog with kindness and respect and (2) one that clearly has the dedication and substantial time throughout the day to devote to raising a puppy to responsible adulthood.
Bailey is a very inquisitive, confident little girl that is adorable to boot! Her beautifully symmetrical facial markings add emphasis to her obviously intelligent expression. Adventurous and alert, Bailey seems to be clued in to everything happening around her. She is also the one most likely to dive headfirst into experiences. “This white powdery stuff is cold, but it sure is fun!”
Don't mistake her independence for aloofness though; this compliant pup shows interest and true affection for her human family and will quickly scamper into any available lap!
