While he occasionally exhibits resource guarding behaviors around food and toys in the shelter, we recommend a home with older children for him. Balto requires an owner who is patient and committed to training him in manners and potty training. We ran a DNA panel on Balto and discovered he is a mix of Husky, Cocker Spaniel and Alaskan Malmute, making him a unique and endearing companion. A social butterfly, Balto thrives in the company of other dogs but can be quite exuberant in his playfulness. He would flourish best in a home where he can match his energy with a lively playmate.
