My Story

Hades entered the shelter originally 07/01/2021. At the time, we called him Barney. He was adopted 09/03/2021. He was returned to us 06/05/2024 with a new name, Hades. It was nothing that Hades had done to bring him back here. This was purely a family issue. We took Hades to the vet that same day. He has a double ear infection (which was treated) and a severe yeast infection and skin infection. His vaccinations are also out-of-date. He is now on medicated baths, an anti-fungal medication, and antibiotics. He also received a steroid injection and an anti-nausea injection due to vomiting several times that day. The veterinarian believes he has demodex mange (which is not contagious to dogs or humans). They also think he may have had an allergic reaction to the fleas that were on him. He is missing quite a bit of hair. I have included an old photo of him from 8-28-21 with O'Malley to show what his hair looked like when he left. We are hoping that he regrows the hair. We have put a lot into him medically since his return. We are looking for a good home for this boy. Despite whatever has happened to him, he is still a great dog. He is potty trained and he has been a perfect gentleman while staying in our lobby due to lack of space. He loves people and right now, he just wants to be petted on and scratched. He has had a medicated bath and Bravecto and he is already looking better. He currently will need two medicated baths per week while his skin heals. Many of his scabs are gone now and he is already scratching less. He has an appointment to be rechecked by the veterinarian on June 19th. At that time, we will bring his rabies vaccination back-up-to-date. We did not do vaccinations on the 5th due to the amount of other medications that he needed that day. He will be updated before being adopted out. You may fill out a foster or adoption application to be considered.
