My Story

Gorgeous 8 year old Bichon Poodle Basil Baron came to us from San Bernadino City Animal Shelter where he was brought in as a stray. Basil had pretty bad kennel cough which turned into pneumonia and it was very clear to us that this little starved 12 pound, long legged poodle had never lived in a house. Basil is 15 pounds now and finally enjoying his homemade food. For weeks I couldn't get him interested in food except for kibble because he was sooo sick. From the first day he shook when I carried him to bed. He was afraid he was in trouble so I held him all night. I'd like Basil to be an only dog as he truly derserves the attention, care and love. Basil LOVES to play ball. I was outside with him over the first few days and it was extremely windy so I had all the toys inside so they didn't blow into our pool. He found 3 balls and brought them to my lap to throw. As sick as he was he wanted to play ball! All. Day. Long! Basil was finally cleared for his first professional grooming last week. He did an amazing job and was very sweet to Keythe our groomer. He does great in the car and gets along with all of the rescues he is currently fostered with. He will bark protectively at the gardener and the poolman but we consider that appropriate barking. Otherwise, did I mention, he just wants to PLAY BALL! Basil has had a complete blood panel, dental under anesthesia (no extractions), 3 sets of X-rays reviewed by a radiologist, neuter, all vaccines, bordatella, 3 year rabies, fecal to laboratory, heartworm test and is microchipped with Home Again. Basil has a grade two heart murmur and will need to be on three inexpensive medications for the rest of his life. He is in great shape otherwise now and ready for his forever home but you have to play BALL with him! You are retired and have one adult home all day. An easygoing female companion dog would be fine but he really doesn't need one. He will do well in public especially if you travel, golf or go out a lot. Or if you just hang at home he'd like that too. We think he would be fine with grandkids or anyone who will throw his ball!! Our adoption donation for adult dogs is $750.00. If you are interested in meeting Basil, email [email protected] for an application or call Lisa Michelle at 310 980 3383 for more info and with any questions. Basil comes with all original paperwork from the day we got him from the shelter til now including shelter pull papers and all medical records. We call this chain of custody. We will also supply 3 months of his medication and arrange for you to purchase it through our veterinarian at our cost.
