Baxter!

Baxter is a five year old, pure-bred yellow lab that's a gorgeous doggy as you can see by his photos. He came to ARF a few months ago so severly overweight and out of shape that he could barely walk around the block. Lucky for Baxter, he had a very caring foster mom that dedicated herself to giving him a good diet and lots of walks each and every day in addition to caring for her own lab. You can see the "after" picture here - Baxter is now a handsome fellow and ready for his forever home! Baxter is a typical lab, he's active, loves to go for walks and jogs, and he's pretty good with most everyone. Baxter currently lives with another dog in his foster home, however we think he'd do best where he's the only dog and can get all your attention for himself. He's needy in a good way - he just wants to be with you. Baxter had not been around cats before he entered ARF foster care, so he barks at them and chases them around. He's not aggressive, he just barks at them a bit too much so we'd recommend a home with no cats or one that has spunky cats that can stick up for themselves and not get scared. Most dogs and cats learn to get along after a few weeks, and if you're interested in Baxter and you currently have cats, you'll need to work with him and be patient with him until he gets over his barking at the kitties. Baxter is already neutered, he's up to date on vaccinations and testing, and he's housetrained. Baxter is even so spoiled that he has a dog walker! He gets at least two walks per day and we'd like to adopt him out to a forever home that will keep that up and then some. Baxter's a great guy and if you like labs and are familiar with the breed then you'll love Baxter.
