Bear

Poor Bear is no stranger to the kennel. He’s been her a few times before. Unfortunately, this time his owners decided not to pick him up. He’s a sweet dog but he does not react well to other dogs. We’ve been told it’s because he was attacked by another dog in his past. His reaction to other dogs could be due to his fear and insecurity of other dogs. But he’s doing better when walking through the kennel. His reaction is improving with his handler distracting him when he starts to react negatively. He knows SIT, PAW and DOWN. So we believe he can learn to be in the presence of another dog eventually. Probably never live with one or play/interact with one but hopefully with consistent training he’ll be able to tolerate another dog. But we do not recommend that he ever share a house or space with another dog. A secure fenced yard would be preferred for Bear. He’s a great dog, he just needs someone to help him overcome his dog reactivity. Bear has a quiet demeanor and just minds his own business while taking his daily walk. He’s well behaved in his kennel and walks very nice on a leash. He likes to stop and sit for a treat. He gives soft kisses and wants to please his human. We are working with a trainer to help Bear. We will gladly pass on the training tips that we are using. We are really hoping to find the right home for Bear where he can flourish and relax without the stress of 20 other dogs in his presence.
