About Me
Characteristics
Playful, Friendly, Protective, Smart, Good with Dogs, Housetrained, Not Good with Cats, Not Good with Kids, High Prey Drive
Bear is a handsome red merle Aussie with a FLUFFY tail! He is 3 years old and about 50 pounds. We don't know if another breed is mixed in there, but he seems all Aussie to us! Bear is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic obedience commands.
Bear is such a fun, bouncy guy. He has a lot of energy and loves attention and pets. He literally melts onto his back for belly rubs! He is good on a leash, but put a squirrel in his path, and hang on. He's been enjoying lots of walks and hikes in his foster home. True to the breed, Bear is also super smart! In addition to requiring sufficient physical exercise, Bear also needs mental exercise - like doggy puzzles and maybe a dog sport.
Bear is good with other dogs. We haven't tested him with cats, but given his prey drive, we don't recommend a home with cats. Bear is also still learning not to jump up on people when he meets them or is excited, so we don't recommend a home with small children. He has a very impressive vertical leap! A securely fenced yard would be a plus for Bear. He can easily leap a short fence.
If you think Bear is the dog for you, apply today! If you're an approved ARMA volunteer, please contact the volunteer who conducted your home visit.
Bear is fostered in Frederick, MD.
