My Story

Meet Bindi ++ Stunning Silky Coated Lab-Bully Mix Female ++ Fostered in Houston, Texas with a male bulldog and a kid - her favorite part of the day is going for a walk. She likes to look around and move her little legs. Sunbathing in the backyard is a close second. She is good with male dogs but needs time to warm up to females (on a leash, she barks and guards her person/off leash calm females are fine). Bindi does not know 'play' and finally started fetch with her human foster kid. Her foster said Bindi is kind of serious sometimes so she's called 'Belinda Susan Katherine Gallagher' when she gives her 'no nonsense' face. Crate Trained, House Broken and Great in the car. Bindi could live the condo life with daily walks or have a yard. She's mellow enough for a first-time dog owner or retiree who wants great company. We do not recommend dog parks for exercise due to her barking/snapping reaction to some females - appropriate introductions with a barrier is recommended to make new dog friends so she can smell and see, relax and then meet. Fully vetted - Spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, testing negative for heartworms (on prevention). From appearance Bindi is labeled a Black Labrador mix from the shelter. Her coat and agreeable temperament, -we agree she's a lab mix. We do not complete DNA testing. She has had X-rays which found bullet fragments in her body - minor arthritis has caused her to be stiff or slow to move occasionally. She still requests nightly walks. Lil' Plump - she is 55 lbs and would benefit from walks, swims, diet. History : found in a county shelter south of Houston, with her puppies. Another rescue took her puppies but did not make room for her. This placed her on the euthanasia list for the following Monday morning. Hope & Freedom went to meet her and surprised at how well mannered, calm and friendly she was. Quiet, good in a car, knew some basic commands - we had to take a chance on this black mama dog. After calling friends, finding a foster -we made a plan. FACT: Black dogs are overlooked in shelters, take longer to adopt even in rescue due to poor quality photos or just preference toward dog's with color.
