In my one year of life I have experienced more than a dog should have to. I am ready to settle down with my lifelong family and live happily ever after. I am told I am extremely intelligent and clever which works for me and against me. Because of my intelligence I am a very quick learner but also get bored easily. I need an enormous amount of mental and physical stimulation. My perfect family would be athletic, playful and absolutely able to run me or walk me daily. I need room to run at my house so would do well with lots of land. I do well running on a leash so if you want to take me jogging with you I am game. But since I am smart and love my treats I will heel and return on command (and with a bribe). Please don’t leave me alone in a house for hours on end. That is the easiest way for me to get bored, even with other dogs around.
Other dogs…..love ‘em! I am defiantly of the pack mentality! I will try to exert my place in the pack but am very mindful of where I fall in the pack order. I need a strong presence in my training to keep me in check. If you don’t have experience working with intelligent dogs I am probably not for you. Since I am very very food motivated I am easy to train but not quick to share. When it is time to be quiet I absolutely love to curl up next to you and sleep for hours. My favorite place to be is on my back with my head on you, snuggled right up to your side. This makes it very convenient for you to rub my belly!!!! I am house broken and willing to sleep through the night…if I have to. Cats and small animals are very fun to chase after so if you have some they won’t last long with me there.
I am learning boundries for playing with humans. I am still mouthy during play but know to stop on command if I go too far. Young children might be scared of this if they are not use to it but an older child that knows how to tell me stop will do just fine. If I think I hurt you I try to make up for it by giving you plenty of kisses.
I am told daily that I am a great dog, beautiful and smart but just too darn clever. I think with a stable strong owner that has lots of time for me I will settle down. Will you give me a chance? In return you will get the best playmate, running mate and snuggler a dog can be.
