My Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Benji! Estimated to be around 2 years old, Benji was rescued off an animal shelter's euthanasia list 24 hours before he was set to be put down for lack of space. He's on the smaller side for a Pyrenees, weighing around 75 pounds, he could stay this weight or gain a few more pounds but shouldn't get above 80.
Benji is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet! His primary focus in life is to be loved and to show you love in return. He gets along with the other Pyrenees in his foster home and likes to run around the yard and play with them.
He's also been introduced to local kids and did well with them. He has not been tested around cats.
He would do best with another playful dog in the home. He could be an only dog as well, as long as he has family home with him almost all the time.
He is not food aggressive and takes treats very gently. He loves to chew! Bully sticks, rawhide rolls, bones, you name it! He will take them all to his bed so he has options.
He's relatively quiet, although will bark occasionally. If he hears or sees a dog on TV he will stare and bark along with them. He hasn't been exposed to much wildlife, but he loves to dig his head into the ground and hunt for crickets.
Benji can be a mischievous one! Although he mostly acts out for attention, he'll take your shoe and walk right in front of you with it. Also, if he doesn't have a bone to chew on, he will find something around the house, including the moldings, to gnaw at, so it's good to have something appropriate for him to chew on throughout the house to keep him occupied.
He is house trained and knows to go outside, however he has had a few accidents in his foster home. He is also crate trained, but would prefer staying with you at all times.
He is great at hopping into a car and he rides well. He's such a Velcro dog that he will try to climb out of the backseat to place his head and chest on the console right next to you.
He's still learning that the leash is a good thing and walks well. He enjoys quiet walks, however gets scared of any loud noises such as thunder, fireworks, cars, kids playing basketball or volleyball, screaming, and so on, and he will try to pull himself up the driveway of the first available house.
