Benji Boy

Benji Boy is the best buddy you could ask for! He's SUPER wiggly and very focused on his handler. He loves pets all over and will gladly hang in your lap getting loving. Benji Boy was found as a stray so not much is known about his past but we know a loving owner will make him eternally happy! Benji Boy is available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. He showed me that he knows sit and takes treats very nicely. he seems to be a bit barrier reactive and requires a slower intro with other dogs. He was barking and jumping up quite a bit on other kennels at the other dogs who were barking at him as we walked through the kennels. Outside he met BellaRosa through the fence and was sniffing nicely but had hackles up and had a stiff high tail wagging quickly. We did a walk along and with the slowed walk he approached her again much more nicely, no hackles, very loose. He had a bunch of good sniffs and let her sniff him as well. In the play run he enjoyed romping around but was most interested in me and pets. Per Staff 7/31/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray, did well with the finders frenchie for two weeks KENNEL PRESENTATION: When approaching Benji in kennel he was lying on his bed. He stood up when he saw me and remained standing on the bed with wide dilated but somewhat soft eyes, a neutral body, and mid level wags. He was patient for leashing and allowed me to reach in and place it over his head. No issues exiting or returning LEASH SKILLS: Pulled moderately, tried to fence fight with dogs in the kennels while walking. he is very strong so can be difficult to manage when fence fighting. HANDLING: Benji was fairly neutral in the room with dilated pupils, a mid level semi stiff tail and sniffed around. He sniffed around the room and when I called him over to me he would approach with some wags. He is very food motivated and would perk up a lot when offered treats! He showed knowledge of sit and Shake for treats and was gentle when taking the treats. He allowed me to pet his head PLAY: Engaged in some play, appeared aroused and was jumping at me, but lost interest quickly and took possession of toys instead. TOYS: Engaged in some play with toys and would hop around the room with it in his mouth. Easily did trades and seemed to show some knowledge of "Leave it.
