My Story

Meet Benny: Your Future Best Friend! Look at this handsome guy! Benny is seeking a foster home or foster-to-adopt home where he can thrive. He needs a committed person who will help him with his training and socialization. Benny's current family is no longer able to provide for him, but they have shared some wonderful insights into his personality and quirks. About Benny: Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: just shy of 2 years old. (Born 7/30/22) Size: Benny is a big boy at 90 lbs Personality: Benny is a loving and affectionate dog who has only known one family his whole life. He will need some patience and compassion while he adjusts to a new environment. He loves lying on blankets and has a fondness for ice cubes and nylabones. He's full of energy and enthusiasm and would love to have the opportunity to get some exercise! Behavior: Benny is mostly house-trained but may have an accident if it's raining, as he is not fond of rain. While he used to be comfortable in a crate, he now prefers to stay out of it. Benny can be a leash puller when he's excited, so he’ll need someone who can help him learn better leash manners. True to his breed, he is protective of his home and people. Due to this, he is a bit aloof when meeting new people and needs some adjustment time. Health: Benny is in good health and ready to join a home that can provide the love and care he needs. He is up-to-date on vaccinations and has no major health concerns. He takes Nexgard to help with skin allergies and to prevent fleas and ticks. Ideal Home: Benny would do best in a home with someone who is patient and willing to continue his training and socialization. He would thrive with an active family. He currently lives with children. Benny would likely do best with another large, calm, or neutral female dog, but we can confirm that he loves cats! We can arrange meet-and-greets and always recommend allowing dogs to slowly get to know one another when adopting. Special Offer: We will pay for training with any commitment to adopt. Contact Information: Are you ready to give Benny a second chance at a new life and help him reach his true potential? Please apply below so we can set up a meet-and-greet and you can learn more about this wonderful boy! https://www.apaprescue.com/adoption-application ----------------------------------------- The adoption donation for Benny is $350. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered if appropriate for their age, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). Unaltered puppies will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract to be done at owner’s expense. If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. All of our dogs reside in foster homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. —————————- Our applications can be found by clicking on the “adoption application” link at https://apaprescue.com We recommend using a computer, laptop or tablet to fill out the application. Questions do not always show up in full on a phone. Leaving a field empty will result in the application not processing. If you get a grey screen, scroll down to see which field you left blank. Follow the prompt to continue. ————— **IMPORTANT ** Please note that when you use the “start an inquiry/introduce yourself” feature it is NOT an application to adopt. Adoption donation policy effective 1/1/23: Under a year - $350 cash/check $360 PayPal/Venmo Adult (1-9) - $250 cash/check $260 PayPal/Venmo Senior (10+) - $200 cash/check $210 PayPal/Venmo We apologize for the inconvenience of a service fee if you are using PayPal or Venmo. Each year we lose hundreds of dollars for their service fees, and their fees continue to rise. Every dollar matters and those lost dollars means less dogs we can fund and help. We are a 100% volunteer group that utilizes foster homes. We do not have a shelter/building. Thank you for understanding.
