My Story

They don’t make puppies any cuter than this !! Benny is a miniature poodle pup that was born on 4/13/2024, so he is almost 4 months old, and only weighs 5#. His mother weighs 11#, so Benny will probably be close to this size as an adult. He is currently in a foster home with his mother and sister, and they enjoy playing with each other; to keep him safe, he is not permitted to interact with the large dogs in the home . These 3 small dogs are in a large pen when inside and again when outside. Benny should have another playful small-medium dog (that is good with other dogs) in his new home-- to be his companion, playmate and mentor. Benny can never be outside without his person – any bird of prey or predator could snatch him up in a second. His pens do have a cover over them, because he likes to jump and climb, trying to get out and explore his world. Benny likes to be held, and is easy to brush/groom. Thus far, he hasn’t done any play biting. Benny is not housebroken – he has pads down in the pen area that his foster cleans several times a day, but the potty training for him hasn’t started yet (with the mom and 2 puppies, it is difficult to housebreak all 3 at the same time). He must only go into an adult only home, and the adopter should be home most of the time – especially during the house training period. Benny is so small and fragile that he could easily be injured when/if handled/dropped by a child. His adopter must be able to commit to another 15 yr. of his care, able to bend down and pick him up, and needs to be steady on their feet because this little guy can easily get underfoot. Previous puppy experience is a plus. Benny has been given 2 distemper shots, 2 wormers, and a rabies vaccination. He hasn’t been neutered yet (too young) and we usually don’t adopt out unaltered dogs, so what we will do is have his person sign a foster contract and make a deposit of half his adoption fee. When Benny is 6 months old, he will be neutered; afterwards, he can be adopted and the second half of the fee will need to be paid. The adopter must live in the metro area. A vet reference will be done, and possibly a home visit. Poodles will need grooming 4-5 times/yr –consider this ongoing expense. If you have any questions, or would like to meet Benny, please call 651-771-5662. His adoption fee is $800. There is a young cat named Benny on the web right now, so when you call and leave a message, be sure to clarify that you are interested in Benny, the dog.
