My Story

Beth is an adorable black lab lookalike looking for a new home to call her own. Sadly, she has grown up here in the shelter. She is eagerly looking for her furever family! Beth is full of typical adolescent mischief and kisses. She is bouncy, playful, and eager to learn. She will do well with non-aversive, positive-based training to help her learn how to be the best dog she can be. She is very bright and loves to do nosework games with our staff and volunteers. We think she would do best with a safe yard to access for play and potty breaks. Given Beth's exuberance and caution around new people, we think a home without children would be best. Teenagers could be suitable, but a home with a lot of visitors coming and going isn't ideal. Beth would do best in a quieter area, ideally out in the suburbs or even the country, not a bustling neighbourhood. She has shown some reactivity to other dogs and to some people while out on walks. With time and space to get desensitized to these things, she does well. We have been using an exercise called "Look at That" where she gets rewarded for looking at a trigger and not barking. Beth has not been exposed to cats at the shelter, but we anticipate that she will likely want to chase cats and other small animals, given her puppy antics. She could *possibly* live with very confident cat. Beth has been exposed to crate-training. She will go into the crate on her own for a nap. She has also been muzzle-trained, which is a great tool for any dog to have. Beth is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and has had flea and worm preventative treatment. She is doing well on a hypoallergenic diet. Her date of birth is November 15, 2022. She weighs approximately 67 lbs in May 2024. Beth's adoption fee is $350 + tax.
