My Story

Meet Bette Davis, the leading lady of your heart! ? This one-year-old American Bully and Hound mix weighs in at a fabulous 40 lbs, but her personality is larger than life. Fresh off her heartworm treatment (and rocking her recovery), Bette is ready for her close-up as the star of your home. Cuddly as a teddy bear and just as lovable, Bette is a snuggle champion, always ready to curl up with you on the couch for a movie night. She LOVES watching what’s on TV more intently than you’ve ever seen a dog do this. She gets rave reviews from her canine co-stars, adores kids and is fine with the felines, making her the perfect addition to any family cast. Whether she’s striking a pose or giving you puppy-dog eyes, Bette Davis is the drama-free diva you’ve been waiting for! Adopt this sweetheart and let the good times roll! ?? PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2024 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
