My Story

Big Mama was days away from being euthanized. With the shelter overflowing and people passing by her kennel every day, she didn’t have a shot at making it out alive. Still, she held on to hope. She wanted to live more than anything and pled her case to the shelter staff every day, begging for them to notice her. Eventually, her unconditional happiness convinced them that she was worth saving, and she was sent to NY to find a home. Big Mama still has that same big smile on her face, but no family to call her own. Every day she waits and prays that someone will notice her for the angel that she truly is, but just like in Alabama, no one even gives her a glance. Every post, every cry for help, is ignored and days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and months are beginning to turn into years. Despite this, Big Mama enjoys every second of every day. She is the perfect houseguest in her foster home— she has impeccable manners, is potty trained, basic obedience trained, is perfect on a leash, and offers endless affection to her foster family. Big Mama is a ball of joy, always romping around in the yard, baking her own dog treats, chasing butterflies, tossing around her toys, rolling in the grass, or sitting in her famous sploot. She’s so happy, she even smiles in her sleep! She would do best in a home without dogs or cats as she wants to be your only one. She is 2 years young, around 45 pounds, and like a red-nosed pitty mix. I can’t picture a dog with more love to give than Big Mama. She doesn’t need much, just someone that promises to love and care for her for the rest of her days. Even if you can’t bring her home with you, please help us to spread her story by sharing and spreading the word! To adopt, call Lisa: 914-469-6605 In foster (White Plains NY)
