Bixby

This dog is located in southern VA, no shipping requests, please. Adoption in person, only. This is a referral posting, the information is provided by his owner in order to help in finding the right home for him. Bixby is a purebred Westie. He’s 7 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. He's a super sweet boy with a smart and gentle nature about him. He LOVES his toys and needs a lot of them. He is not a high energy guy but loves the company of another non-dominant female dog. He has no desire to fight with anyone but he does like to be considered the top dog. Females that will stand up for themselves if needed will also work. He's good with cats too! We prefer older children as he has no experience with him. He needs and enjoys the company of another dog because he loves dogs as much as his people. He prefers it not be a busy, high energy dog around him. He is healthy, neutered, up to date on shots and on heartworm preventive. He’s very cooperative for grooming, bathing and even nail trims. He can get a little itchy with seasonal weather changes, but nothing that is hard to maintain. Bixby is crate trained, but since just neutered recently may need a belly band in his new home until he settles into his new life. He has never worn one but if needed he may have to for a while. He’s accustomed to using a doggy door to a grassy fenced yard on one level, so he will need some training to transition to other environments. He’s only lived in a quiet country setting and not needed to leash walk, do steps, or wait for leash walks. It would be best for his adopter to be retired or working from home to help this transition more quickly and be willing to give this some time and patience. Bixby is sweet and kind and a people pleaser with a heart of gold. Loves his toys and loves being with people. He loves to be spoiled and wants to carry his toys with him everywhere. He loves a fluffy bed and sleeping in a warm sunbeam on a colder day. He is not a needy dog at all but loves attention. This is what we want for him. He does well with lots of love and kindness. This boy needs to be in a home that is ready to give some serious loving and spoiling. Harsh actions and aggressive alpha people are not a good match for him. He thrives on kindness and gentleness. This sweet boy needs a sweet person to give his entire world to. And his toys. He needs a lot of toys! If you are looking for a companion that will love you and give you his all, and you appreciate the Westie breed, Bixby is what you’re looking for. We are looking for an East Coast home owner, fenced grass yard, no bodies of water not separately fenced, a home where he will not be alone all day.
