My Story

Meet our little powdered donut, Blizzard! Anyone who adopts with him should be prepared for a lot of sweetness and cuddles, as well as lots of fun and games. Blizzard is equal parts playful bouncy puppy, and velcro lapdog. He loves getting plenty of time to romp and play with toys in our yard, but he is quick to find the nearest lap and plop himself in it. Blizzard can be higher-energy at the kennel, but once he gets off-site, he shows that he can be much lower-key and even a bit sensitive. He's great in the car, and had a blast hitting he drive-thru with a volunteer (he'll take a burger, please, but hold the fries.) He can be a little timid and unsure about new things, and he would benefit from an encouraging home to help him boost his confidence. Still, he's a loving boy who is eager to please his person, who absolutely lights up with wiggles when he gets praise. With other dogs, he has been social, preferring other dogs with a less-rowdy style. Blizzard is estimated to be around a year old and weighs 40 lbs. He's ready to be your regular sidekick for snack runs and snuggle sessions! Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet! Visit: 9203 Detroit Avenue Cleveland, OH 44102 Fee: $61 | Includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, license, The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.) About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
