We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing Blondie in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. Needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here after completing heartworm treatment. Special Adoption Considerations: Blondie is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. Blondie is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. She's pretty young and is eager to see and experience the world! What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she's under her own roof every time the sun goes down.
