We haven't seen her with cats or kids yet but she can be tested? Currently Living At: South Carolina animal shelter. She'll need an adopter or foster in order to secure a freedom ride to the DC area. Special Adoption Considerations: Bloom is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! She was abandoned at the shelter, along with her 7 precious puppies, yet she continues to seek love and companionship from the humans around her. Bloom's sweet personality, playful energy and amiable disposition make her a joy to be around. With her wagging tail and hopeful eyes, Bloom is ready to bloom into the hearts of a forever family.
