Bluey
Breed
Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler, Border Collie
We can't believe Bluey has been with us for 7 months with no applications. Bluey, an Australian Blue Heeler found wandering the streets of New Orleans, is around 9 years old. He embodies all the typical characteristics of a herding dog-watchful, intelligent, and keen to keep things in order.
At 55 pounds, Bluey is a bit overweight and would benefit from short walks a couple of times a day and some time in the yard. Bluey is kid friendly and lets cats do their own thing. He gets along with other dogs, as long as they know this old man has the say around the house. Generally low energy and preferring a laid-back lifestyle, his herding personality thrives when given a task or job to do and loves fetch.
Bluey is house trained, neutered, and heartworm negative. If you're looking for a loyal and attentive companion, Bluey is the perfect fit!

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt
**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.
2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250
For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq
*Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
