My Story

Bonnie is a beautiful pure bred Boxer girl who was rescued from the life of a Puppy Mill mom in upper SC. Bonnie is less than 2 years old.
We are pleased to say that the woman who ran this "Puppy Mill" is serving time in Prison for the horrid conditions that Bonnie and her other "Inventory" dogs lived and died in.

In December of 2006, when Bonnie was rescued, she was so emaciated and weak that she could not even stand straight or walk right.
Bonnie had to learn that hands could be kind and gentle. She didn't know what it was to play or have a soft word spoken to her.
Bonnie now had a place where her body could rest and heal. A place with an abundance of good food, plenty of clean water, fresh air, the medical care she needed, kindness and lack of stress.. Bonnie quickly began to gain weight and become physically healthy.
During this time, Bonnie began to learn that she enjoyed the soft words she heard and learned that she was "Bonnie". Now the wonderful Boxer personality in her began to craved human contact.
Bonnie learned that hands could be pleasant to her touch and Bonnie would come to her foster mom to be petted. Bonnie was learning to trust!

Bonnie became more social and started to smile and do the Boxer wiggle as she ran to greet her foster parents. Bonnie had learned to trust people.

One day a very nice man came who wanted to give Bonnie a home of her own and Bonnie was adopted. That was several months ago.
Just this past week the man who adopted Bonnie called and said that his son had been having a lot of respiratory problems and had been diagnosed with severe allergies to both cats and dogs. He was very sad at the thought of having to bring Bonnie back to her foster mom.

Bonnie is now house trained and she walks well on lead and loves to ride in the car.
Bonnie has loved "her boy" as well as her dad and she would love to be adopted to a family with children.
Bonnie is watchful and caring. She also loves to snuggle on the couch.
Bonnie enjoys her crate with the open door which is her "safe" place.
Bonnie now loves to play with her family and also she entertains herself by playing with her toys. One extra special thing about Bonnie is that when she is finished playing with her toys, she takes them and puts them back in her crate!......Maybe Bonnie would be the perfect example to the children in her new family.
Bonnie will sometimes collect things she finds around the house in her crate.....so if a sock is missing Bonnie may have picked it up and taken it to her for safe keeping.

Bonnie will only be adopted as a valued inside family member to a home where the Boxer is known and loved.

Please read Bonnie's Story.

BONNIE'S STORY:
Bonnie is a pure bred White faced, White and Red Boxer who was a "Puppy Mill" mom.
She was starving in a place or "plenty" that did not extend to the "Inventory" dogs!

Bonnie is now free to eat, rest, grow strong, become healthy and learn to trust humans. She is learning that the human hand can feel pleasant. Bonnie doesn't know what it is to be petted!

Bonnie is afraid to come out of her enclosure with the warm dog house. She will cautiously come out into the greater fenced yard, quickly run around for a few minutes then run back into the comfort and safety of her enclosure.

Bonnie will grow strong and healthy with the good food, fresh air, affection and good medical care she is getting.
It is expected that the sweet Boxer personality locked inside of Bonnie will help her develop into a sweet loving example of her breed.

Watch for updates on Bonnie's progress over the next weeks.
Bonnie will be able to be adopted when she is healthy, spayed and has learned to trust humans.

UPDATE #1: 12/15/06
After only 10 days Bonnie is looking more like a Boxer and less like a dog with all her bones showing!
It is amazing, Bonnie is beginning to look like the beautiful Boxer that she is going to be.
Bonnie is beginning to blossom socially also. She has decided that she Really likes being petted. Bonnie is coming along nicely.
It is wonderful to see how quickly she has progressed.
She is filling in so nicely and she now craves human affection!

UPDATE #2: 12/17/06
Note on the pictures the difference 7 days can make with lots of good food, fresh air, exercise and affection can make!
Bonnie will now come seek me out to be petted. She craves the affection of petting and gives lovely kisses in return. Her eye contact is soft and expectant, not fearful and confrontational.
Bonnie now licks my hand after she has finished eating instead of barking and snapping from fear.
Bonnie is one very special little Boxer girl!
