Brago
Breed
Pit Bull Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler
Meet Brago! The 4 year old Heeler mix, who was found as a stray and is now ready for adoption. He recently got to enjoy a temporary stay in foster care!
Brago's Foster Dad says: Brago has a cattledog personality - meaning he is aloof. Aloofness is not a bad thing, as Brago did not pester me for constant attention the way so many breeds do. Brago is just fine doing his own thing calmly and quietly. He is housebroken and had no "accidents" inside my home. Honestly, Brago was a delightful house guest. But if you're looking for a goofy/silly/sloppy puppy dog, this is not Brago, but he is very good, calm and quiet company. As you can see in his photos, Brago is a strikingly handsome medium-sized and weight dog. He has a beautiful white coat with light brown patches. His fur is short, thick, and soft to the touch. He should be kept bathed and brushed to minimize shedding. When I get a new foster dog, I often give a bath to rid them of their "kennel smell". Brago was not happy about the bath and whined about it. However, he showed little resistance to my hand-held shower and no aggression. Afterward, he seemed very happy to be clean and rewarded me with a big hug. Brago does not give kisses. But if he will come close and push his head into your chest. Dogs don't have hands or arms, so this is how they give hugs. Brago is a hugger and did this several times while at my house. Brago has two other unique behaviors. One is he can walk on his hind legs. I found this out when setting out his food dish, because he followed me walking on two legs. The second is he has an odd vocalization when he gets close and hugs you, he makes this quiet growling noise. It almost sounds like he is purring. Brago preferred the wet food I gave him and didn't eat most of the dry kibble. He also sleeps quietly through the night on his own dog bed.HSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight.
