My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Buck! He is an athletic, playful & loyal sheltie looking for an experienced companion to help him build his confidence. Buck is an exuberant & loving boy that will become very attached to his person; his future adopter(s) will be the center of his world. He would do best in a home without children but might warm up to older, more respectful children with time and training. His foster mom works from home, and he loves spending time under her desk or near her chair. Buck loves being with his people and would prefer a human companion during the days. Buck gets very vocal when his people try to leave the house; he usually calms down within a few minutes, but occasionally he will express his sadness by howling. Due to his vocal nature and guard dog tendencies, Buck would do best in a home with a spacious yard, preferably fenced. (No apartments, please.) Buck plays well with most dogs and picks up on social cues - he would do great as an only dog or with a non-dominant fur-sibling. He has not been exposed to cats in his foster home. Buck is a playful boy who enjoys a good game of tug, fetch or chase with his canine pals. After playing and zooming through the house, Buck loves curling up next to his people on the couch. Buck enjoys multiple short walks throughout the day and is making great strides at loose leash walking. Buck knows basic commands and is fully potty trained. Buck is an introvert & needs slow, managed introductions to new people. He "greets" strangers by barking and jumping. He can warm up to strangers but it takes time, training and a lot of treats! For social outings, it's best to leave him at home. His kennel is a great option when guests are coming into the home & training isn't possible. Buck is a very sweet boy with a few quirks that will require a patient home. He will need a slow transition as he adjusts to a new home and a new person. Buck is currently taking anxiety meds to help him feel more comfortable. Once settled into a new home, continued training will be important for Buck. His foster parents think he would excel in agility. He's fast, smart and can jump better than any sheltie they've seen. He would benefit from the mental and physical stimulation agility provides. Buck is a great dog and will live a very happy life with a person/family who is understanding of his needs and how to best support him. Buck is from an owner surrender.
