My Story

Buddy is a 10-year old, energetic little guy who just wants to spend all his time with his human. If you’re in a chair watching TV, so is Buddy. If you’re lying in bed taking a nap, so is Buddy. But for all his cuddles, he still loves to be outside walking around enjoying the breeze and has no issues bounding up the stairs or onto chairs and sofas but will need help getting into a high bed so he can sleep snuggled up with you. Due to life changes, Buddy’s previous owner needs to rehome him. At 10 years of age, Buddy is in great health and has lots of energy. When he gets excited, his left hind leg starts to twitch as he hops around. Buddy has allergies and requires a monthly allergy medication as well as monthly visits to the vet to have his anal glands expressed. Currently, Buddy is on a prescription dry and canned food for his sensitive stomach. Buddy maintains his healthy weight by eating several 4-ounce meals during the day. Due to his sensitive stomach, Buddy needs to go potty several times after eating and does well being walked every 3 hours. Buddy walks well on a leash and responds to being called back and told to “go inside.” Because of Buddy’s small size and good leash behavior, he will not pull someone over or knock someone down while on the leash. When Buddy sees you going for his leash, he gets very excited. Buddy gets along well with other dogs but does not like children. At his foster home, Buddy ignores the cats some of the time and charges at the cats other times. Buddy’s foster hasn’t figured out the pattern to that behavior yet. It’s obvious that Buddy wants to play in between cuddles. Buddy is vocal and will bark at noises and out of excitement, but he has a very quiet bark. Buddy also loves riding in the car but gets very nervous during storms and fireworks. However, he has done well during storms at his foster’s house, which may be because the other dog living there does not react to storms at all and Buddy feels safe. Buddy would do best in a household where there is someone home most of the time so he can get his regular potty breaks along with having a steady supply of laps to sit on. Buddy also enjoys sleeping on a stool next to his foster while she is working from home. Please fill out an application at betterlifepets.com/adoption-application
