Buddy is a 1 1/2-year-old Tree Walker Coonhound. Buddy and his companion were found abandoned, starving on an empty lot. He has had little to no human interaction. He has since been taken into the sanctuary and is being fostered. He is on a well-balanced diet and has put on some weight. Buddy is up to date on his vaccinations, and current on flea/tick prevention. He is heartworm positive. Our veterinarian uses the slow kill method, which consists of one month on an antibiotic and a year on normal heartworm prevention. All treatments will come with him and his retest in 1 year will be covered at our veterinary clinic. He will be neutered at the end of August. We are aware that many hunters may not like that, but it is Tennessee state law that no animal shall leave a sanctuary intact. He has been an outside dog his entire life, so he is not indoor potty trained. He is good around dogs his size. We have not evaluated him around smaller dogs. He doesn't seem to like cats. We recommend children over 10. He will jump up in excitement. This can be trained out of him if you are willing to take the time to train him. We would prefer him go with his companion, but this is not necessary. He will not be ready to leave the sanctuary until the end of August, but we are taking applications. Please call 931-516-9418 for an application.
