Update from his new foster home: "Our paperwork suggests he is about 1.5 yrs old. He just arrived on 3/24, but is doing great so far. We aassume he is "housetrained", there have been no problems yet. He does very well in the car and loves to explore outside. He does well with other dogs, but does not appear to be familiar with cats. He has met two so far and barks at them and his hair stands up...the cats did not like him very much! He loves to play with toys and will run around the house with them. He definately acts like a puppy, but is really quite calm for a dog this age. He likes to lounge around a lot and chooses to hang out in his crate sometimes for some quiet time. He is so soft, cuddly and sweet"
An update on Buddy from his previous foster home. This is the sweetest dog in the world! Buddy loves his kennel at night. We leave the door open he crawls in at night and sleeps all stretch out. I am assuming he is housetrained, he has had no accidents in the house. Buddy is a playful dude and gets along GREAT with ALL the dogs. He is very scared of a broom, and he does not like loud noise. He will go in a corner of our lot and sit very still, till we call him. (tee hee) He is growing fast and will probably be mid-sized to medium large.
Buddy was found on a major highway trying to get away from the cars on Saturday Feb 16, 2007. No one has claimed him, so we are adding him to the website. Buddy is in foster and gets along great with dogs big and small!!!!!! He is almost housetrained and is sleeping in his crate at night. He has a very gentle nature and is not hyper like some collies are. He just likes lots of hugs. Help us find Buddy a home.

All known information is listed here. If it is not listed here, then we do not know if this animal is good with cats or kids. This dog is Urgent because the shelter it is in is in Arkansas and is overfull, therefore dogs and puppies alike are on the euthanasia list. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us nasty letters about why we euthanize, this is not our choice, we do not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many of them as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.
HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.
CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.
SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.
SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.
HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.
PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
