My Story

Meet Buddy Verde! Due to an animal limit issue, Buddy's owner was forced to surrender him to Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. He is 9 years old and weighs 12 lbs. Buddy is a little guy with a zest for life, despite his unique condition. He has 3 legs and only a little paw on his chest where you would expect his leg to stem from. Does it stop him? As you can see in the video, the answer is no! The day after Buddy Verde became a Frosted Face, he was scooped up for a two-week Frosted Fling. Despite all the recent upheaval in his life, he settled in quickly and earned rave reviews for being a well-behaved joy to have around. His Fling Mom shares: "Buddy Verde is a three-legged superstar and has been the perfect dog during his fling. He is so cute! Here is what we learned about him: * Buddy Verde is not a foodie. He does know when it is mealtime and came running when I prepared it. * He is great on a leash. Hold on because when he gets going it's a sprint! * We took him to an outdoor concert, and he was a very good boy. He has enjoyed meeting all people and dogs. He says hi, sniffs some, and goes on his way. No problems! * He loves belly rubs! * Buddy has no trouble with having 3 legs. He knows no difference, and nothing stops him. He jumps on and off the couch, he'll take you for a brisk walk, no trouble with steps and the list goes on. * Buddy likes to sleep in the bed with you, lie by you on the couch, and notices when you leave the room. * He is house-trained. He may need a bellyband at night for a few nights and you to remind him to go out. He learned within a week to do his business outside. * He hasn't shown any anxiety when we leave him. He's usually sleeping in his bed when we get home." What Buddy Needs: A loving family that can appreciate his special needs and give him the care he deserves. A home where he can continue to thrive and show off his playful spirit. Patience and understanding as he adjusts to his new environment. If you or someone you know is looking for a loving companion who is sure to fill your life with joy, please consider adopting Buddy. He's ready to bring his special brand of happiness to a new family, and we're eager to see him find his forever home. For more information or to meet Buddy, please contact us.
