My Story

Meet Buster Backstroke! Buster Backstroke was entrusted to our care through the Final Wish Program after his senior owner's health declined, and sadly, she could no longer care for him or herself. Buster is very friendly and sweet and does well with other dogs. He is 11 years old and weighs 58 lbs. A few days after Buster arrived at FFF, he was chosen to go on a two-week Frosted Fling! He has been earning rave reviews from his Fling Mom: "Buster report: * He knows how to sit! * Sleeps through the night cozied up on a dog bed in my bedroom. My dog was in same room on different dog bed, and they shared a cute morning meet-up. * Went out at 9pm last night and then 7am this morning. No accidents but I've been taking him out every 4-5 hours during the day and will increase to 5-5.5 tomorrow. * Takes leisurely walks. Did a 40 min walk this morning and again tonight. He seems to walk easier with a harness, so we are using that over the slip lead leash. He really enjoys going on his walks! * Gave Buster a bath. He did great! * Yesterday, he was not interested in any of the toys around the house, but then today I brought out 3 new toys, one of which he immediately took in his mouth. * He eats in a room separate from my dog and has a hearty appetite. I've been doing carrots for treats. * He has been friendly with human visitors and neighborhood dogs! * He has been using a slow feeder bowl. * He has not lived with cats, but tends to not have much interest in them on walks. Buster stayed at the house (not in crate) by himself with great results! I was out of the house for 9 hours, and for first-time caution, he had two dog walk visits. He had zero accidents, and cameras showed he basically just lounged between the front door and his bed. He did not bark when the dog walker arrived. Buster is now considered a regular at the evening park meet-ups, and everyone in the neighborhood is cheering him on to get adopted. Buster is quirky, happy and an absolute joy!"
