My Story

Adopt Cagney today and embark on a journey filled with love, laughter, and endless tail wags. This is beautiful Cagney, a charming and intelligent young shepherd/husky mix. At approximately 1.5-2 years old, Cagney is full of youthful energy and curiosity. This inquisitive pup is not only smart but also loving, making her an ideal companion for families with children in high school or older and/or individuals. Cagney's friendly nature extends to other dogs. She gets along famously with her canine companions in her foster home, showcasing her sociable and adaptable personality. Due to her neglect during puppy-hood she is timid and shy of new people. Sometimes that's demonstrated with some nervous growling and shying away. We've found that she quickly overcomes this behavior if the people have treats. So we recommend she lives in a home that has the time and willingness to help her overcome her shyness. This is why we believe she should be in a home with older children, not because she's demonstrated any aggression towards children. (Coming soon: The video is Cagney meeting me, for the very first time. As a canine behaviorist it shows me that she's wanting to be friends and a willingness to work together. ~Nikki, volunteer for PSR) Cagney is ready to be your devoted companion. This submissive girl has proven to be a great fit in various environments, and she is open to joining a home with or without another dog. DOGS: Yes CATS: Unknown KIDS: Unknown, but probably best with older children. KENNEL TRAINED: Yes GOOD IN CAR: Unknown POTTY TRAINED: Yes TREATS: Likes treats & she takes treats nicely. LEASH ABILITIES: She is distracted at times but wants to be close to you. So she is still working on this, but suspect with consistent walks she'll be great. PREVIOUS HOME INFO: Unknown. She was at a high kill shelter and would have been euthanized due to over crowding. The shelter doesn't give us any details about dogs' previous homes. ADOPTION FEE: $500. This goes to helping us save more dogs from high kill shelters. NEXT STEPS: Please send us an adoption application. We will contact you if you seem to be a good fit for this, or another dog at our rescue. You can apply for more than 1 dog at a time if you'd like. Once we've talked we'll schedule a time for you to do a meet & greet and possibly a same day adoption.
