Say hello to Calvin! He's an adorable 5 month old puppy who is eagerly searching for his forever home. Calvin's story is a reflection of a widespread issue in the South, where many pets are not spayed or neutered. His mother was a wandering neighborhood dog who ended up giving birth to EIGHT puppies! A compassionate lady has been caring for all of them since they were born. We were contacted to help find these pups homes, and now we're dedicated to helping Calvin and his siblings find wonderful families where they can flourish! Calvin is a black mouth cur mix, a breed celebrated for their social nature and eagerness to please, making them exceptional family pets. These pups are incredibly loyal and loving! It would be interesting to do a DNA test to discover what other breeds might be in his mix (Rhodesian Ridgeback??). Calvin is great with children and other dogs. While he hasn't been tested with cats, we can arrange an assessment if needed. **Please note, the adult dog in the video is not their mother. Their mom is a black mouth cur mix. Although he might seem a bit reserved when you first meet him, Calvin quickly warms up with some tasty treats and gentle belly rubs. His foster mom has done her best to make their outdoor living space comfortable, but the Mississippi heat and weather can be quite harsh and his fur has thinned a bit in places. It will all come in nicely once he's in a better environment. Calvin dreams of trading his rugged outdoor life for one where he is a cherished family member. Like any new dog, he will need patient adopters to help him learn the rules and routines of his new home. Since he has been living outdoors, we have marked him as "not housetrained" because he hasn't yet been in an indoor setting yet. However, we believe he's a smart boy and will learn quickly! We conduct virtual meet and greets for out-of-town applicants and offer transport (the adoption fee includes transport to your location) to many neighboring and northeastern states. (If you want to come meet the dog at the Hancock County Animal Shelter in Kiln, MS the adoption fee is $75 and if you would like the dog transported to Mobile the fee is $125.) **We cannot guarantee breed mix or size once full grown. We make our best guess on breed based on any known family history and observable characteristics. We also do not know how big this puppy will grow. All eight siblings are quite large for 5 months, so we expect them to be BIG and could easily grow well over 60lbs.
